Chris Onyekwere, a graduate of Texas Southern University United States of America (USA) has held many appointments in United States of America before his return to Nigeria. He joined University of Texas in 1988 and later went to work for Western Petroleum/WEAFRI Joint Venture operation in Houston.
In 1992 Chris Onyekwere negotiated the joint venture agreement that brought Western Petroleum of North America to Nigeria.
He later worked for Western Cementing and Mud Technology as Project Director. During this period he influenced the joint venture technical partnership between Western Cementing Technology and WEAFRI Well Services Ltd. Chris became the founder and president of Western Scientific of Houston in 1993.
In 1997 Chris came back to Nigeria as Executive Director of WEAFRI Well Services Ltd. His contributions remain visible as his management skill has transformed the company from family business to co-operate establishment in oil and gas industries competing with multinational in well construction/well intervention operations worldwide.

Chris co-authored an SPE Paper on Increase Production in Brown field with heavy crude by application of New HF Acid.
